Internet Security Company HQ, Sunnyvale, CA [While at GS Design]

11/11/2018

The portions of the building facing the public roadways represent the web, with its chaos and vulnerabilities: the braced, irregular, glazed facade is built at the minimum allowed setback on the South and East edges of the site, and it contains the office spaces with the executive penthouse on the top floor.  Glare is reduced using darkened glass, while on the south there are also louvers. The green roof helps cooling the building during the hot periods of the year.
On the west side, a massive, double walled mechanical concrete "Spine" functions has a figurative protection for the courtyard and the rest of the site, occupied by other existing buildings of the same company. The "Spine" holds most of the mechanical and service elements of the building, and on the West side its dark color and uniform large surface absorbs the sun radiations and prevents the office spaces from overheating.  Additional heat exchange can be achieved by running water systems within the large concrete mass.
Two separate blocks are cladded in solar panels and provide opportunity for separate elements of the program: on the South, the Executive Briefing Center, while on the North the underground Service yard, and the Amenity area.
The Solar Orchard lays in the inner court, and provides additional renewable power production, while its pool provides freshness and moisture to the communal amenity space.

ArcelorMittal HQ, Luxembourg [While at Fuksas]

3/6/2017

For this closed competition I was asked to assemble a team and develop the building concept created as a Plexiglas scale model. Within a week I modeled a Revit version of the building, and the team produced a presentation for a meeting with a client representative (and one of the competition judges) who helped the studio with important feedback.

Guosen Securities Tower, Shenzhen, China [While at Fuksas]

2/28/2017

I was asked to continue CA on this project, while under construction. Using the Chinese made CD set of drawings, I created a study model in Revit, and begun to analyse the problems of fireproofing for the diagonal void cut of the facades. The on-going results were a series of questions (for both the contractor and the client) which we crafted in the form of markup sheets (see last two images).

Menlo Gateway, Menlo Park, CA [While at Heller Manus]

5/10/2016

This 200,000 SF office building has a fairly complex curtain wall geometry which required a careful review of the curtain wall submittal during CD and CA.  In fact, several in-s and out-s, together with convex and concave corner conditions, in both horizontal and vertical directions, created challenging curtain wall details.  I produced studies of some of these conditions for client approval and contractor clarification purposes, especially around the main entry lobby. I have also produced some studies for the interior of the main lobby. Other tasks for this project included amendments of the CD set to include detailed area calculations, and miscellaneous shell plan revisions.

Oceanwide Center, San Francisco, CA [While at Heller Manus, with Foster+Partners]

1/24/2016

A $1.3BL mixed use project in the SOMA district of San Francisco, the two million square foot development comprises two high-rise towers, along with impressive new public spaces and important new pedestrian links through downtown. Together, the buildings provide 1.35 million square feet of office space and 650,000 square feet of residential units.
As BIM coordinator for the Heller Manus team, I have been working on the SD documents for the project's four level basement.
In particular, I was involved with the 3D modeling of the garage, the parking, and the distribution of the dense program for the hotel and residentail component of the towers above (Locker rooms, bike storage room, hotel programs such as laundry and admin offices, etc.).

535 Mission St. lobby, San Francisco [While at HOK]

11/1/2013

For this high-rise building I have helped with the Bulletin #4, issued for the street lobby. In particular, I have remodeled and documented the elevator alcoves with their wood and stone paneling. I have also revised the RCP and other Revit drawings.

Guangzhou Canudilo Fashion Center, China [while at Heller Manus]

6/1/2011

I have helped develop the SD set for these high-rise buildings, including the core design in Revit.

Fox Playa Vista Campus, CA [While at Stantec]

2/13/2009

For this TI project I supported the production of Revit documents for the architectural team. I was then asked to create graphics that would emphasize the multidisciplinary nature of the Stantec team, which encompassed architecture and MEP components. The resulting image is a diagramatic rendering of the architectural and mechanical Revit model which was produced for the delivery of the project.

AIG San Francisco Headquarters, CA [While at Chong]

9/24/2008

I was placed on this project mainly as Revit team support leader, but then I took on the design and documentation of the board room, which was never built.

Mission Bay Block 26A Reception Desk, San Francisco [While at Chong]

9/25/2007

Rendering produced in MAX, using 3D models from Sketchup and Revit.

Silicon Valley Corporate Campus, CA [While at Chong Partners]

9/25/2007

This project was a proposal submitted to a potential high-end silicon valley client. When I was asked to visualize the building, there was a wood block model of the campus, and some old studies for the elevations. I therefore created a new Revit model, and begun to design and render the building, interpreting the campus concept design.

Alameda Point Master Plan [While at Chong Partners]

6/6/2007

For this proposal of a large re-development of the San Francisco East bay, I developed a fully "intelligent" BIM model, including custom Mass families and schedules.

Three PNC Plaza, Pittsburgh [While at Gensler]

2/15/2006

750,000 Sq.Ft. - $179M - I have been involved during Design Development for this mixed use high-rise building, supporting the senior designer in the development, selection and visualization of the final scheme.

Gilead Foster City Headquarters Master Plan [While at Gensler]

6/3/2005

This was a relatively fast master planning exercise, where I rendered the site plans and the perspectives from the same 3D Studio MAX scene. Several options for office, lab and parking expansion were analized and proposed.

Microsoft Redmond Campus Master Plan [While at Gensler]

4/1/2005

This master plan explored the addition of 3M square foot of new office space to the existing campus, including the required parking, and public open spaces. Several concept design schemes were produced and presented.

Genentec South San Francisco Campus Master Plan [While at Gensler]

4/1/2004

These are options for the Hilltop site of the Genentech South San Francisco campus. Also, we developed the graphics for a general campus site plan.

Foundry Square, Chong Partners | Architecture TI [While at Chong Partners]

11/20/2003

This project was realized in Revit 5.1, with some late fold back into AutoCAD. I was involved since DD, through CDs, as support for the principal designer. I also produced the photographs below.
